Open Question: How long do you have to study in university to be a hematologist? Australia and France?

My nephew wants to be a hematologist when he is older. He is fifteen this year and he is quite a smart kid. He likes to travel as well and wants to apply to go to university overseas in France. He is fluent in French. I have friends who are GPs but they don't really know much about hematology. How many years would you have to study in university to be a hematologist in Australia and France? And what subjects should my nephew be taking so he is on the right track? Thanks :)

Open Question: Is it possible to open an American bank account from here in Australia?

I'm planning to travel to the US for a holiday towards end of the year. It would be handy to be able to open an American bank account now, transfer Australian dollars while the exchange rate is favourable and then have that money sitting in an American account waiting for me when I receive there! Maybe even earning some interest... ? Is this possible or too good to be true?

Open Question: How would I go about getting a Monster (Energy) Export?

I live in the United States (PA to be more exact) and I've been trying to collect one of every Monster Energy can ever made. I have most of them, even a somewhat rare Monster Dub edition I recently purchased. The Monster Export and Monster Ripper are only available in Europe/Africa/Australia/Asia. I cannot travel to these countries, so how can I receive one of these? I cannot find them online anywhere: not on store sites, not on auction sites like Ebay, and not on sites like Amazon. I really want one of each to finish my collection. If you live somewhere where these are sold and would be willing to buy one and send to me, I would be willing to pay (via paypal because that would be easiest) for the monster and for the shipping. If you have any other ideas of how I could receive one of thes, please let me know. Thanks

Basically we don't really know much. We will visit a travel agent but it would be good to go with some ideas already in mind.Just want to know what places we should travel to and what we should look while we are there, some good (cheap) places of accommodation, how much it will cost, what the weather will be like, what to pack etc etc... just the stuff you'd usually want to know when travelling overseas. Open Question: student holiday 2 weeks.?

im a first year uni student, and because of the nature of my course i won't really receive a good chance to go on holiday for quite a while. my best options are this summer or next summer, then after that i'll struggle to find the time. my pal and i are thinking of taking a holiday somewhere this summer, for 2 weeks (he cant receive any more time off work). where do you think would be a good place to go if we wanted to just chill out and relax on a beach and meet new people our age (19)? not really thinking an ibiza/party holiday here...i do enough drinking through the night at uni, we just want to chill out. we considered australia, but for 2 weeks it's quite far to go for the money, especially as we'd lose almost 4 days to traveling. so, any suggestions? Thanks! we'd considered canada (toronto perhaps) or cape town. would they be any good for what we want?

Resolved Question: Why is there no ferry from Bali to Darwin ?

Everyone knows that flying damages the environment. Everyone knows Australia is wishing to rerduce the co2 produced and therefore why not do something positive. A daily passenger ferry boat from Bali to Brisbane would keep a lot of air travel and make visiting OZ much easier so it would be good for tourism. So why no ferry boat from Bali to Darwin, it is such a tiny distance to Kupang and already there are ferry boats to the whole of Indonesia. If anyone knows of a boat, please let me know, because I would like to return to OZ. Travelling from UK but I no longer fly, because it is very damaging to the environment. Thanks !

Voting Question: A question for Americans regarding tipping?

After reading a couple of questions in this section on the subject of tipping, I have noticed something that I need to ask about: A lot of people are saying that if wait staff started getting paid properly and tipping was scrapped, then the cost of food would increase dramatically to accomodate it. Here where I live in England (an the relax of the UK that I have visited) and places I have been travelling to such as Australia, New Zealand, every over Europe etc, in like for like restaurants for the same dishes, prices are the same or LESS than they are in the USA - and NO TIPPING is required - so it is utter rubbish that the cost of food would have to go up. My question is, why do people constantly say this when it is clearly not true. Anyone in the USA who has travelled outside their possess country and eaten in a restaurant abroad should know this, so why does this misconception (clearly made up by restaurants to attempt to avoid increasing their employee's wages) still exist? Good point Patrick Sorry meant to post: Good points Patrick and Joshua M - You make fair points here. I don't mean this question to be an attack on how things are in the USA, I just want to understand how this is justified. PS: 20 dollars is almost £14 for a burger! Where was that? I'd expect it to be made of gold for that price :)

Open Question: Need some exchange help... Living in Oz - want to go to Canada/US...?

I plan to leave after Christmas 2010 so I can spend New Years in New York or Las Vegas (which one?)... start uni Semester 1 (which is their Winter) - then travel around the US in (summer, YAY) May, Jun & Jul - and be back end of July to start Uni in Australia again beginning of August... So - I'm unsure of where to go - These are my choices: Firstly - I can go to Canada and stay with family. That would keep me accomodation for the months I'm studying so I can spend more travelling later. Maybe a few restrictions on what I can do. Either way, I'll still be travelling around with friends 3 months after my semester... Secondly - I can pick between the following and live on campus, or wish a pal comes with... These are the Unis that have caught my attention that i can go to: University of North Carolina (Wilmington) - close to the beach! Northern Arizona University (Flagstaff) - Close to LA, Las Vegas, Mexico Tulane University (Louisiana) - Not sure why this grabbed my attention? State University of New Paltz (New York) - Close to NYC!! - 2 hours away. Ohio State University (Columbus) - Seems like there will be a lot of people there... Any help will be appreciated on the Uni's or areas - what you reccomend. I don't know at every!! My plan was to go with a pal, but I don't think that is working out accordingly, so they plan to meet me after my semester and travel for a couple months with me before I arrive back.. I just want to make the most of the time that I will be there... and I don't know where to stay to make this happen. Thanks!
